Sister Kellee Walker's Tuscon, Arizona Mission - August 25, 2014

Hola Familia

Hey there my lovely family!!

That is so great that Dad was able to do the missionary minute (:   I am sure he did great (:
And thank you for asking for prayers. It really has helped!!

As for this week, Well gosh, it was incredible!! Lots of miracles and lots of happiness to go around.
I have said it a million billion times, but guys, I LOVE being a missionary. I have talked with president about extending and he isn't necessarily opposed but here are the questions he asked me to ponder:

-Why do you want to extend?
-How will you feel if you cannot extend or choose not to request an extension?
-How will that help me to conclude my mission? To move to the next part of life? (For example, would you start school in January if you returned in December?
-Would a delay cause you to lose schooling opportunities? What about work prospects if you go home in December or February?
-How would your family react if you stayed until February?
-Given your back pain and headaches, what is best for your physically?

I think It would be great if you guys pondered these questions with me this week & give me your input in your next email? (: THANKS

So here are some exciting things that happened this week.. We got to do service this week & we painted a ladies house (dad, i remember painting my bedroom with you <3)  After 14 months of waiting to drive a truck, my wish came true this week!! YAY I got to drive it from downtown tucson up to North! We went on exchanges this week with Sister Moon and Sister Zealley. Sister Moon came to my area and we had a blast! I don't have a lot of time, but I am working on a letter for you all so i'll write about it in there (: Have I told you how much I love being a Sister Training Leader? It is a great responsibility and I have loved relying on the Lord for direction & seeing myself and other sisters grow. Sister Moon even gave me a few things to work on as a missionary & she challenged me to "List"en.  Make lists of things I want to accomplish, things i'm struggling with etc. And work specifically on LISTENING. I'm usually a good listener, but lately my brain has been going insane and I haven't had the willpower to stop and listen. So that should be fun (:

We also have a special opportunity to have a half mission conference tomorrow with Elder Malm, a member of the seventy! This morning at 8:30 we had a MLC with him and the Passeys down in Benson! It was a wonderful opportunity! I took some great notes, so i'll have to share them with you when I have more time. Which might be when I get home... hahahaha

And of course, I am out of time....
I love you all so so so much.
Be safe this week & tell keaton that I am SOOOOOO proud of him.
He is doing great!!

Love you,
Love always Sister Walker.

Transfer Week

You'll never guess what happened for transfers?!!!

Sister Barnes & I are staying together for ANOTHER transfer!! That makes 3 transfers together, 4 months! And 6 months in North Zone for me! How great is that? Sister Barnes and I work so well together, that the Lord just wants us to keep it up!! We can definitely do that. I love Sister Barnes sooo much, I don't think she understands. hahaha But we are super excited to tear it up this transfer!!

This week has been a little out of control.. which has kept things interesting to say the least, but I AM EXHAUSTED. We had 2 exchanges again this week.

I have a lot more to tell you, but my time is unfortunately out..

So I will write you a letter!! How does that sound? (:

I Love you guys so much.
I am glad you were able to have some fun this week.

Have a great week

Love you!

I Never Want Another Week Like This One

OH MY GOODNESS.

This week has been the week of all weeks.
I am physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually exhausted.
A hug from you guys would really be great.

Let me just give you a run down of our week:

1. We are over a few more sisters than we had last transfer so we've been having to do double exchanges to make sure we get to go with all of them in a 6 week period. So this week we had exchanges with Sister Smith and Sister Reeves.

2. We had zone meeting this week so Sister Barnes and I got to give 2 training's!! We did an awesome job, I hope!! We talked about integrity which I have come to LOVE! It means basically to think and do what you know is right a  tall times no matter what the consequence. I loved especially when we talked about living by your standards and beliefs even when no one is watching. Be true to yourself! So we did this cool activity where we dug a giant hole in the dirt in the parking lot of the church and we burried our "disobedience" or our weapons of war just like the anti-nephi-lehis in the book of mormon. We all wrote down some kind of disobedience we do as individuals and physically burried them and promised to never unburry them. (Alma 24:15-19 53:14,15,20,21)
We also taught about finding through members which was really needed. We read Mark 4:2-8 and talked about how the fertile ground is the members and we just brainstormed ways to find through embers. And as a zone we came to the conclusion that having a "How can WE help YOU" attitude is what builds that trust.
Then Elder Peterson gave his last testimony before he goes home and he said something that really hit me. He said, "When we apply the Saviors atonement into our lives, we obey." I don't know how many times it needs to be shoved into someones brain, but obedience brings blessings.
And then right after the meeting, I asked for a blessing for some things i've been struggling with. Elder Purcell gave my blessing and here are a few things he said,
Heavenly Father is so proud of you
He is watching out at all times
You are a choice daughter and He loves you
You can find peace through scriptures and as you come to learn more about Christ
Strive to love those around you, especially those whom you serve
They will fell your spirit which you carry.
Continue forward with pure steadfastness
You are here for a purpose; Many people are waiting for your message which you carry.

Isn't that the coolest blessing?! I had made a goal to love more and Heavenly Father knew that and helped me recognize that I have His help always. And I though t it was so great that many people are waiting for the message I bring even with 4 months left.  People are STILL waiting for ME!

3. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PACKAGE! You will have no idea how much i needed that little guy. It seriously brightened my day!! Thank you thank you thank you.

4. Then Jordyn had her baptism this Saturday!! Satan really didn't want her to make those covenants with God because man, this was the craziest baptism yet on my mission!! So we get to the Sumter building an hour early at 6:00pm to fill the font and we open the font doors to find BUGS.. not just one but like twelve little nasties jut hangin out. and among them was a flippin scorpion. So after we got rid of all the bugs we turn on the font and the water is brown... so we let it run for a bit and try to plug the font but it wont pug all the way because it was off set. So we tired to plug it the best we could and called it good. So then we turn the air on and start setting up. The baptism starts and the room is FULL. Literally full. Probably around 70 people there and the first speaker starts talkin & 20 minutes later he is still going.. so we decide to go sneak out and check the font only to find it DRAINED to my ankles. So i threw off my shoes, climbed in that font and stomped that drain like nobodies business (but reverently of course) And then turned the water back on and it got filled just in time as people started to walk into the font room. Satan is a funny guy. Then she was baptized and forgot a towel so we dried her off with paper towels.. hahahahahah Oh just the cherry on top right?

So even though this week was insane, I loved it. It was a growing experience for sure.
All throughout this week, I kept thinking of the childrens song, I feel my saviors love. If you get a chance, look up all the verses, they are lovely.

Well i'm out of time, but I love you.
Thank you for all you do & all your prayers.

Love always,
Sister Kellee Walker

Where to Begin

kay folks.
Well my mind is kind of going a million miles an hour and I don't really know what to think.  I am super overwhelmed with things.. and i'm trying my hardest to be positive.  Let me fill you in on everything that is going on.

If I counted right, I only have 130 days left on my mission.. HOLY CRAP.  That freaks me out to the max. I am in no way ready to come home yet!!!

But on the flip side, I have the greatest companion. She is so good to me. She wrote an Ode to Sister Walker that I wanted to share with you.

Ode to Sister Walker
By Allison Barnes

A Cheerfully Diligent Missionary
Dear posterity, I just wanted to let you know some reasons why you should strive to be like sister walker.
1. Even when she knows it's going to be a hard sacrifice and hurt her heart, she chooses to be obedient. She takes the council of her leaders and immediately obeys. she exercises her faith to follow Jesus Christ to be an exactly obedient missionary.
2. She works hard. Even when she misses her family. When her back, head and whole body is exhausted, she still work's hard. She work's monsoon or HOT sun, sleep or no sleep, food or no food. She acts in faith to follow the saviors example of being diligent and working hard.
3. As good old Billy (my recent convert) might say, she is an angel. She is sweet and kind to everyone and helps everyone feel important and loved. The light she has illuminates the people around her. She helps others choose to become.

Isn't that the greatest? I may have cried a little bit. hahaha

Between you and me, I got to hold a baby this week (: His grandma babysits them and threw out her neck and back right before we came over and she asked me if I would move the baby from his high chair to his swing, so I got to hold that little precious boy & my heart melted. I can't wait for the day when I will have my own family. (: Oh happy day.

We also had Missionary Leadership Council this week & I learned a lot about obedience, working with members and prophets!

And something amazing that happened this week was that President Passey gave me permission to drive back to my old area in Rincon to attend the baptism of a family Sister Delap and I taught. It took them a while but they followed the example of Jesus Christ and entered into the waters of baptism as a family.

Even though this week was a little rough, and i haven't been as happy as I should, I still was able to feel the spirit and feel of my Heavenly Fathers love for me.

This gospel is beautiful, our Savior lives and God is good.

I love you guys so very much.
Keep on keepin on (:

Come what may and love it, right?

Love always, Sister Kellee Walker
