Sister Kellee Walker's Tuscon, Arizona Mission

Obedience Brings Blessings

April 28, 2014

Hey there family!!!

This week has been CRAZY!
So much has happened, I don't even know where to begin.

I thought it was really ironic how mom told me to take those doterra tablets if i felt sick.
Because on Saturday we went on exchanges with the Pima Sisters & you'll never guess what..
It was a down pour!! So much rain!! And on a bike!! It was pretty fun though!!
But unfortunately I think I got a cold from being in the cold rain ALL day.
Yesterday I only made it through all of Tortolita church and only sacrament in Country Side.
We took my temp. and it was 100.5 and my throat was killing me & I was achy & stuffy nose.
I felt really bad for making Sister Fuller come home ALL day.. but the Lord knows it's okay to take a break.

So basically that's all the hard stuff this week.
The rest has just been normal.

Being a sister training leader is a lot of responsibility but oh man, I LOVE IT!
I am learning a lot about myself & i'm able to use my talents that God has given me.
I was reading my P blessing and it talked about God giving me leadership skills
& how I will be given opportunities to use them as I give of my time.
How cool is that?

Keaton.. I wish so badly that I could see you play LAX. I bet you are getting super buff yeah?
I'm glad you are super tough when people shove you.. hahaha noobs.
Also, Sydney wrote me first so don't give me crap mr. I think she's written me more than you have ;)
Hahha just kidding.. but i'll be looking forward to that long letter you are going to send!!

As for Mothers Day!!! We are thinking it most likely won't be until later at night
Because we have our 6 hours of church plus dinner right after so maybe around 7 Arizona time.
But I will let you know when I find out for sure! (:
Did you get the packages I sent? One of them was for mothers day so don't open it yet.

Also, we get to go to the temple on Tuesday so i'm excited for that (:
And MLC (Missionary Leadership Convention) on Friday for all the leadership in the mission.
And exchanges again this week with the Spanish Sisters in East Stake.

We've also been playing soccer every Tuesday with some non-member guys who are interested in learning more!
They even brought us cleats and shin guards. It reminds me soooo very much of Austin.
I miss that kid quite a lot.

One last thing..
This is the last week i will need to use my credit card to buy my groceries.
We get new money this weekend. So sorry for spending all your money..
I'm grateful that you are able to help me out.

I love you guys so very much & I hope your week has been great.
That's super crazy that it is snowing... I honestly will die when i come home.
Can you imagine, yank me out of 60 degree weather in December from Tucson
and drop me in 10 degree weather in December to Utah. I'm doomed.

Well. I shall talk with you all next week.
Be safe & keep up the great missionary work at home.

Love always,
Sister Kellee Walker

Easter Weekend

April 21, 2014

Hello there family!!
I MISS YOU GUYS SO STINKIN MUCH!!

I'm getting more and more excited for my mother's day call.
We still don't know the details but I will let you know as soon as i know!

And I did get your little envelope package with my card and mom's letter and the quotes!!
I am deffinately going to hang them all ova the apartment.
The apartments we have now are the greatest!! I have my own bathroom!! HUZZAH!!
And no wet carpet or damp smell. It's wonderful.

We live super close to the mission office so that's really nice!!

Being over two area's is super hard!! There are so many people to keep straight
and boundaries to remember. We also share the ward with elders so that's fun!!
I'm getting used to all the responsiblity that comes along with being a STL :)
That's super cool that they sent you an email!! That makes me feel special.
I made a list of all the Sisters that I am over now!!
Camp and Yarborough in Pima Ward
Souza and Grove in Casas Adobes Ward
O'Donnell and Halle in YSA 1st Ward
Ellis and Lopez in Spanish Ward (East)
Stratton and McNally in Lacanada Ward

Exciting right?!! There is a lot of responsibility but I am so excited.
What a beautiful blessing.

I'm learning a lot about obedience which I have come to love!!
We can receive sooo many blessings as we obey.

Keaton.. that goes for you as well. When you are exactly obedient to mom and dad, you will get so many blessings like happiness at home, fun, joy, love, more freedom!! Plus you get blessing from Heavenly Father as well :) It's a double win. I wish I would have understood that more when I was growing up. Will you try to be more obedient this week? :) I promise that as you are obedient, you will be able to seriously SEE the blessings. Try for me?

So I don't know if you guys got to see the Because of Him video that the church put out for Easter.
If not, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

It was such a great video. Watch it right now :)
Did you know that the church bought the banner on Youtubes front web page yesterday and played the Because of Him video so that MILLIONS literally would see it on easter? That's how special is it. We watched it probably like 50 times this week. I'm obsessed.

Since I am over 2 wards now, We go to 6 hours of church plus an hour of correlation and it was NUTS! That's like as long as school... but church. hahaha It was really great though, I'll admit, getting to spend 6 hours worshipping my Savior on Easter. What better way to celebrate His Sacrifice and Atonement and Resurrection. I think Easter has been my favorite holiday as a missionary. It's just wonderful.

We also had 2 baptisms this weekend for Shayna  and Cindi. Being a missionary is beautiful and I hope I can always have a desire to share the gospel with others. :)

Well folks. My time is up but I love you so much & I'll be keeping my eyes open for a easter package.

Love always,
SISTER WALKER

Ps: KYLEE IS ENGAGED?!??? What the heck. All my friends are getting married.. without me. hahaha it's all good.. I'm super excited and happy for her. Tell her to send me pictures of her wedding and her ring and her soon to be hubby. And I sent a message back to Lexi :) I am so proud of her!! She will do wonders!!

Pss: I got a package from Brendan that had a beautiful neckless in it. Did he show it to you before he sent it to me? Oh man... this is trouble. Hahaha he's great.

Psss: How are the Dolinars?

Pssss: We drive a jeep.

LOVE YOU!!

Sister Kellee Walker's Tuscon, Arizona Mission - April 15, 2014

April 15, 2014

It's a Joyful Journey

Okay so let me just go through this week with you.

Monday: Our apartment flooded (you already knew that) and we went to the zoo!!
We also found out that our dropped baptism date received her answer and was ready to be baptized!!

Tuesday: I got the opportunity to go on exchanges with Sister Stuart and we went to her area to help pick up the work a little bit!
We went on some crazy dirt roads and basically went off roading. (I want a truck)
We did service at a ranch and I helped Sister Stuart realize that missionary work should AND is fun (:

Wednesday: We had zone meeting where our whole zone (24 of us) got together and had a training about focusing on what truly is important in life.
Guys, I love being a missionary. I am so blessed to have the desire I do to be here serving my Savior and Father. What a blessing in my life.
We also had Arielle's baptismal interview with Elder Vang
And I had Salmon for dinner...(:

Thursday: We had planned to give a church tour to our friend Vanessa but she didn't show up which was really lame because we had set up the whole building just for her..
BUT.. we were just about to put everything away when we noticed a man outside with his dog. So we went out and talked to him and invited him on a tour (:
His name is Kevin and he has a dog named Duster. (Like dusty but not) So we gave him a tour and he LOVED it. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of him!!

Friday: We taught law of chastity to an old less active lady in the ward & Sister Delap thought it was super awkward but I loved it. hahaha
She looked at us and said, "Girls, mah plumbin don't work anyways. I couldn't have sex if I tried!" Hahhaha I loved it.
I also got a new nick-name from our investigators daughter, Heidi. She calls me Sista Walkie. Hahhaah so freakin adorable.

Saturday: Sister Delap and I put on a last minute baptism for Arielle Bloomfield and it was flawless. I was so amazed with ourselves.
The ward mission leader couldn't make it so we filled up the font by ourselves, set up the chairs by ourselves, got programs made and everything else.. by ourselves!!
Can I just tell you.. it is the most wonderful feeling in the world to know that I am an instrument in God's hands. I am helping His children come home to Him.
Arielle has a very special place in my heart & I hope one day you can meet her (: She's 15 and adopted, just like me!
Then after the baptism we went to Culvers to celebrate. If you haven't gone there, do it! Get their concrete mixers. YUM!!!

And then comes Sunday: Usually we love Sundays but this Sunday was transfer calls.
Let me explain to you a bit about transfer calls.

Transfer calls begin around 8:00pm
If you get a call from President you or your companion are either training or you are getting a leadership position.
If you get a call from the AP's you or your companion are getting transferred.
If you don't get a call, you and your companion are staying.

So 2 transfers ago when I was still with Sister Cook, We received a call from President telling me that I would be training Sister Delap (:
And last transfer we didn't get a call because we obviously stayed together (:
But Sunday night we were hovering over the phone waiting for it to light up with either Presidents name or the AP's..
And when It rang, it said PRESIDENT KILLPACK! So that means either Sister Delap is training, which would be insane..
Either I'm training again.. or one of us is getting a leadership position.
So President small talks and then gets down to the neety-greety and says,
"Sister Delap you are saying here and getting Sister Garner as a companion and Sister Walker, are you ready for this one?"
"Oh great President... Lay it on me!" (:
Then he does his cute giggle and says, "You are being transferred to be with Sister Fuller in North Stake to be over the Tortolia AND Country Side Wards."
"AWESOME!!"
"But wait I'm not finished Sister Walker... We also would like to call you as a Sister Training Leader."
"AHHHHHHHH WHAT?!!"
"I have faith in you Sister Walker. You've been through a lot over your mission and we think this will be very beneficial to the mission.
But most importantly, the Lord has faith in you, and He is there for you always. So what do ya say?"
"Okay President, I would be happy to be a Sister Training Leader."

THE END

So let me explain to you what a Sister Training Leader is:
A Zone Leader is an Elder who is over the ZONE and they give trainings to missionaries and they go on exchanges each week to train missionaries & help them become more effective.
But what about the sisters? Elders can't go with Sisters!!
So that is where a Sister Training Leader comes in handy (:
She does the exact same thing as a zone leader (: She gives trainings to missionaries (elders and sisters) during zone meetings,
Goes on exchanges with the other sisters in the zone to help build their confidence and to help them be more effective
And goes to Missionary Leadership Convention where all the leadership in the mission get together and plan how to help the mission bloom.
Can you believe it?!?? I honestly was nervous at first, but then I realized how blessed I truly am!
The Lord is trusting me to help His work progress and He needs to me be there as a support to these Sister Missionaries.
How did I get so darn lucky? (:

So here I am in North Stake with Sister Fuller who is also a Sister Training Leader. She is from Portland Oregon and is just great.
I'm excited to get to know her and to not only serve as a Sister Training Leader, but also have the responsibility of serving over TWO wards!!
Dad, that means 7:00 to 4:00. 10 hours of church. I do NOT want to hear any more complaining (: hahaha

I love you guys so much.
And i'm so blessed to have you as my support.
I feel your love each and every day from the moment I wake up (:
Thanks for the sacrifice you give and for all you do.

Tell Keaton that I say hello (:
I wish he would write me.. I have no idea what is going on in his life. hahaha
Oh well.. teenage boys.

Have a great week.
Love always,
Sister Kellee Walker

Sister Kellee Walker's Tuscon, Arizona Mission - April 7, 2014

April 7, 2014

There goes the toilet, and our floor and everything

WOW! Can you say tribulation?!!!!

I don't know what it was about this week but holy crud. I have never seen more trial in this week, than I have my whole mission!! Let me expound on that a little bit: So at the beginning of this transfer, we had 7 investigators all with baptism dates. And on friday, ALL of our dates were dropped.. for different circumstances.. but they were all dropped!! And then this story tops it all off..

Last night after Sister Delap and I finished planning for today, I had this really strong impression to put everything that was on the carpet, up on the couch. So I did that and then went to bed. I woke up and and heard this really awful "pshhhhhhhekkekke" noise and thought it was our airconditioner freaking out again so I rolled out of bed to turn it off only to get my feet SOAKING WET. Water? From where?!! I hurried and turned on the lamp in our room and Sister Delap groans, "Six Thirty Already?!???" And I holler, "There is water everywhere Sister! Wake up!!" So she leaps out of bed and we open our bedroom door to find 3 inches of water running down the hallway of our apartment, coming from the bathroom. So we rolled our pants up and turned on the bathroom light and hallway light to see water spraying from the pipe under the toilet. We tried with all our might to twist the handle at the bottom but with no success we called President. Now we failed to look at the clock and just assumed it was around 6:00 but no... it was only midnight. Luckily President answered and gave us permission to have the elders come in our apartment to help us twist the handle. Well here is the funny part.... they twisted and twisted and twisted all while the water is rising and pouring out the door and they are unsuccessful. So we call Elder Johnston, our housing department missionary and he came to the rescue. (Elder Johnston and I have a really good relationship. I can't wait for you to meet him) So Elder Johnston twists and twists and twists and SNAP! He broke the handle and even more water is spraying out.... By this time the 4 soaking missionaries are mopping and filling up buckets to empty the apartment and by some miracle, Elder Johnson got the water to stop running!!! Then they all left and Sister Delap and I were left to a wet, soggy, humid apartment. It was just like having Noah's Ark in our apartment, minus the animals. I guess you could count the floating cockroaches as the animals. hahaha ewwwww. So we ended up calling maintenance emergency and left them a message but they didn't end up coming til 7 this morning. That was quite an adventure right?!??? And remember how I told you that I'm afraid of plugged toilets? Well now i'm afraid of all toilets in general. That experience just reaffirmed my fears. hahaha

I thought through that experience all day today & kept coming back to the talk in General Conference about being grateful even in times of turmoil. Things have been incredibly hard & i've unfortunately gotten a little discouraged, but last night it hit me: I am serving a mission for my Savior, Jesus Christ and He will bless me even when things are incredibly hard. He is always there for me, always willing to comfort. And I love Him for that. I was able to find things to be grateful for last night and I want to share them with you!!
I was grateful that I put up all the things on the floor last night.
I was grateful that I woke up earlier than 6:30!! Can you imagine the mess it would have been if I hadn't have woken up?!
I was grateful that our downstairs neighbor didn't say too many nasty things too us (:
I was grateful the Elders were so willing to help us and Elder Johnston too.
I was grateful for the once in a life-time opportunity as a missionary to play in water (: hahaha even if it was nasty toilet water.
See? You can find things to be grateful for in EVERY situation. Try it (:

Dad: I loved your message in the News Letter. You did an excellent job & you don't even need me to make corrections!! Don't worry about the mistakes that were made, people got the message and I'm sure they loved it! I loved that you quoted Paul V Johnson (: Did you know that he came and talked to all the missionaries here? It was a really cool experience & he is an awesome speaker!!

Mom: I can't believe you waited THIS long to take down the Christmas Tree!! That is a little ridiculous hahaha but i'm glad it finally got put away this weekend. (:
You asked about the map I sent home. I made that map for Sister Delap because she has a hard time remembering North South East and West and where places are so I was able to help her out a little bit (: hahhaa
And the purple sled?! I seriously almost cried when I read that it finally died. :'( How terrible. We we definitely have to have a funeral when I get home.
and about college.... I am a wee bit frustrated because I can't just call you and talk to you about my thoughts. There is a reasoning behind my madness, I promise. UVU really isn't in my future plans but we can talk more about it on mothers day (:
Transfers are this week so you won't be getting an email until Tuesday.

I hope things are going well and that your new toilets don't explode and create Noahs Ark in our home. Also.. I have video footage of the toilet experience but it's too large to send home but I got permission to send it home from my gmail account so be looking for that.

Love you and can't wait to hear back.

Love always,
Sister Kellee Walker
